Motivational Speaker
Winston Churchill

Gareth Hughes is a warm, instantly recognisable presence — the big man with the beard and the big personality to match. Known for his trademark Hawaiian shirts and his ability to make anyone feel at ease, Gareth brings authenticity, humour, and heart to everything he does.
A lifelong football fan with deep roots in the game, Gareth has spent the past 26 years as a live matchday commentator at Stoke City F.C. delivering ball‑by‑ball coverage for visually impaired supporters inside the stadium. His voice, energy, and instinct for storytelling helped thousands of fans experience the game in a way that felt vivid, inclusive, and unforgettable.
Gareth’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. Growing up with a significant stammer and later managing epilepsy, he learned early on what resilience really means. Those experiences shaped his confidence, his communication style, and his passion for helping others find their voice. Today, Gareth channels that into talks for schools, colleges, and organisations — sharing honest, relatable stories about overcoming adversity, building confidence, and embracing who you are.
Creativity has always been part of Gareth’s life. In 2010, he wrote a children’s book inspired by his own childhood football memories — a project that helped him navigate his father’s illness and passing. The book went on to sell over 600 copies and remains one of his proudest achievements.
Whether he’s hosting an awards night, speaking to a room full of students, or creating content online, Gareth brings the same qualities every time: warmth, humour, authenticity, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
He’s a big man with a big heart — and even bigger stories to tell.
