My Story
Gareth Hughes is an inspirational speaker, educator, author, and presenter who believes that our greatest challenges can become our greatest strengths. Known for his trademark Hawaiian shirts, infectious humour, and approachable style, Gareth creates genuine connections with every audience he meets.
For more than 26 years, Gareth has been the live matchday commentator at Stoke City Football Club & The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) providing descriptive commentary for visually impaired supporters. His ability to bring stories to life, engage listeners, and make every moment meaningful has become a hallmark of his communication style.
Behind the confidence on stage is a story of resilience. Having grown up with a significant stammer, later diagnosed with epilepsy, and managing lifelong anxiety, Gareth understands the importance of finding your voice, embracing vulnerability, and refusing to let challenges define your future. These lived experiences underpin his powerful talks on resilience, confidence, mental wellbeing, and achieving potential.
Alongside his work in education and leadership, Gareth is also a self-published children's book author whose writing reflects his passion for inspiring others through storytelling. Every chapter of his journey has strengthened his belief that everyone has the ability to overcome obstacles, grow through adversity, and make a meaningful difference.
